Establishment / History
Issue no. 0 of the news bulletin of the Hungarian Economists' Society of Romania (RMKT) was published on the 24th of January 1998, at the initiative of the founding Editor-in-Chief, József SOMAI, who edited the journal from 1998 until 2009.
The journal bears the name Közgazdász Fórum since 1999, starting with issue no. 4; as of the same time it functions as an officially recorded magazine (ISSN 1582-1986).
In 2006, the Hungarian section of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration at the Babeş-Bolyai University of Cluj-Napoca joined the editorship of the periodical. As a result the same year the journal gained accreditation by the Romanian National Council of Scientific Research in Higher Education (CNCSIS).
Bálint Zsolt NAGY led the editorial board between 2009 and 2012. He established the practice of five Hungarian and one English-language issue per year, making it possible for the journal to be included from 2010 onwards in the ProQuest and EBSCO databases.
Kinga KEREKES took over as Editor-in-Chief in July 2012. As of 2015, four issues are published every year (2 in Hungarian, 2 in English), and the English name of the journal became Forum on Economics and Business.
Currently, inclusion in the ERIH Plus is among the journal's objectives.
Contents
The Forum on Economics and Business publishes scientific articles and book reviews in the fields of economic theory and applied economics, authored by members of the teaching staff, researchers, and practitioners.
True to its original aims, the journal regularly publishes – in the Hungarian-language issues – reviews about the work of notable Transylvanian Hungarian economists and reports on important events in the life of the Hungarian Economists' Society of Romania.
Publication frequency
The publication frequency of the journal has changed several times between 1998 and 2008, ranging from 4 to 12 times annually. Between 2009 and 2014 it was published six times a year.
As of 2015, four issues were published every year (2 in Hungarian, 2 in English).
In 2021, a decision was made to publish one Hungarian-language and one English-language issue per year. This has partly contributed to improving the quality of published articles and partly helped optimize editorial processes. This publication frequency remains in effect today.
Scientific recognition
It has been an officially registered periodical since 1998 (ISSN 1582-1986).
In 2006 the journal was acknowledged as a scientific journal by the Romanian National Council of Scientific Research in Higher Education (CNCSIS).
As of 2010 (starting with issue 92), the Forum on Economics and Business is included in the electronic databases ProQuest, EBSCO, and EPA.
Relevance
All members of the editorial board have affiliations with European universities, the majority of them being associated with Babeș–Bolyai University in Romania. Almost all authors come from European countries. These two factors make it possible for publications relevant to Europe—particularly Central and Eastern Europe, as well as Romania—to be published.
When submitting articles, authors are not required to be from Europe; however, the topic must have clear relevance to Europe.
Special issues
Forum on Economics and Business does not publish special issues.
It organizes a conference every two years, the International Conference on Economics and Business Management; however, articles presented at the conference are welcome to be submitted to the journal's regular issues.
